omg I have my own thread?
GOSH!
Some of my pics are going to be published...don't wanna say where cus it won't happen if I do, but it's big. Shame the pics aren't very exciting really, but it's a start.
some of the interview pics I took are going in a 4 page Download special in Burn Magazine, and they also went on the official Download website, but have been taken down for a few days till I know which ones this other magazine might want (they only want Bullet for my Valentine stage shots btw).
It's all very exciting!
Oh and the rest of the pics are on my website
www.marianneharris.co.uk Here's a post from another forum...including the offending Aiden pic Martin
OMG I had a BLINDER of a weekend!! Soo much to tell. Was pretty knackered most of the weekend. Going to the Jonah show then driving 200 miles at 2am and then getting no sleep for 2 days tends to **** you up a bit. God bless Redbull eh?
We turned up to find out we had VIP passes, but more than that because of my photopass I pretty much had access all areas. Good start. Didn't quite realise just what that meant till I actually got into the VIP area. It's pretty nice....lots of turkish beds with cushions and lamps, vip bars, food areas and garden etc etc. I admit I was just a bit wowwed to begin with. We knew it'd be a kickin' weekend already.
But then I discovered I had access to the proper backstage areas....the media lounge where all the tv/radio interviews happen. Lots of important photographers, presenters, managers, producers....you know all the 'behind the scenes' **** that goes on. Seriously you just wouldn't believe all the stuff back there. The bands have this massive area with portacabin dressing rooms...like 30 of them in this huge part of the conference centre at Donnington. There's a massive dining area...all white lattice fences and ornamental potted trees, water dispensers, free redbull and icecreams in little freezers, sofas everywhere. And a massage parlour, pool table, games console pods. Man...was ****ing wicked! And the artists have their own private VIP garden where the warm up tent is...with sculpted trees in pots haha! And on Sunday I found out I could also go into the Kerrang tent, which I didn't even realise was there!
I also had AAA on the Snickers Bowl arena. Took loads of shots of skateboarders like Bucky Lazek and Tony Alba....was just stood right on the edge of the bowl shooting them and chilling out. HAHA soooo surreal!!
I met quite a few people I've wanted to for a long time. Not only was I there to shoot some bands but I'd been asked by Get Amped, who were interviewing bands for Burn Magazine, to be their photographer for the weekend. Maybe not exciting to some of you but I met some of the Funeral guys, Breed 77, Zico Chain, Bucky Lazek, the drummer from Metallica and Colin Dorran (Hundred Reasons), who was such a damn cool guy. Also saw Kirk Hamnett, Sebastian Bach and **** loads of well known musicians. And no, I just didn't have the nerve to say hi to most of them.
Also ran into a few people I already know like the Bullet guys, Aiden, Benji from Skindred (who recognised me from shooting them in Yeovil...haha ace! Had a nice chat. Wicked guy), James from 18 Visions, and various others who I really can't remember.
Oh ****...haha...erm...I also did something extremely embarassing....I went up to Jake W from Aiden and hugged him whilst telling him how lovely he is when I was politely told he was in the middle of an interview with Kerrang radio. Oh dear.....not the best way to make an impression I feel. LMAO!! Thank god he thought it was funny, though I'm not sure the guys from Victory Records were quite so convinced.
I also got pissed off my tits on one, yes ONE double smirnoff and Redbull. Now before you laugh I have a defence in that I was pretty much running on adrenalin alone having had no ****ing sleep so....yeah. Apparently I was very funny though so it's all good.
Right so to the photography. Well I had it all planned out and unfortunately it just didn't happen how I'd hoped. I didn't shoot about 5 bands I'd wanted to...ah well. I did however get some great shots of Aiden, Fightstar, Billy Talent, Hundred Reasons, The Prodigy (holy **** their set was awesome!), Zebrahead, Bring Me The Horizon, Reuben, Get Amped, and The Hedrons. I also spent about half the Bullet set sitting on the mutha****in' main stage taking pics!!! How ****ing rock n roll is that?? If you saw me up there please leave comments on my page. That would be awesome! haha! I got some good crowd shots for the official site. Their manager is a ****ing legend for getting me a stage pass!
Now for the festie news....Jon Davis of Korn didn't make it...ended up in hospital for some reason, so they had guest vocalists standing in...was bloody good though! The Prodigy tent was too ****ing full for my liking, the fair ride that went up and round did my head in just watching it, and Metallica and GNR both played for like 3 ****ing hours!! Man...too ****ing hot to stand out in the arena so we chilled in the VIP garden and listened. Nothing quite like listening to GNR and watching a glorious sunset!! AHHHHHHHH!
So yeah...all in all an amazing weekend.
Here are a few pics:
